2023 LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD RECIPIENT

William Logan, born in Rutherford, North Carolina on November 20, 1955, William's journey has been a testament to faith, resilience, and unwavering dedication to serving others.

William's upbringing was shaped by the love and values instilled in him by his late parents, Ruth and Sherman Gray. Raised alongside his seven siblings, he learned the importance of family, faith, and community from an early age. Despite the passing of most of his siblings, William, along with his brothers Doug and Larry, continues to carry forward the legacy of love and strength instilled in him by his parents.

In 1977, William married his beloved wife Brenda, and together they have been blessed with three children – Roslind, Darian, and Tonica. Their family has grown to include six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who have been the joy and inspiration in William and Brenda's lives, providing unwavering support as he pursued his calling in ministry.

At the heart of William's life and work lies his deep commitment to his faith, rooted in the powerful words of 2 Corinthians 5:18-20. These verses speak of reconciliation and the ministry entrusted to believers through Christ, a mission that has defined William's life's work. Through his ministry, William has tirelessly worked to reconcile individuals to God and to each other, embodying the message of forgiveness, grace, and transformation.

William's impact on the spiritual community is profound and far-reaching. His leadership has led 1,591 men to embrace baptism and guided an astonishing 4,394 men to profess Jesus Christ as their savior. These numbers represent not just statistics but the countless lives touched and transformed by William's unwavering commitment to spreading the gospel of hope and redemption.

One of the most remarkable facets of William's ministry has been his focus on prison transitioning and restoration. Over four decades of service in prison ministry, William has played a pivotal role in the rehabilitation and reformation of over 2,867 men. His efforts have resulted in an impressive 99% success rate in their successful reintegration into society, demonstrating his belief in the power of second chances and the potential for redemption in every individual.

William's favorite quote, "Be careful that you are so involved in everything and not accomplishing anything," reflects his deep understanding of the importance of focused action and impactful service in his spiritual journey and in the lives of those he serves. This quote encapsulates William's philosophy of ministry and underscores his dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

In 2008, William's dedication and leadership were recognized when he became the Chaplain of the Rutherford Correctional Center, a role he continues to fulfill with compassion, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to bringing hope and healing to those in need.
